Howdy Amigos!
I hope you all have been keeping well.
It seems like I haven’t written anything in a while, and with a lot of stuff going on in my life and around the world at the moment. With the horrific events occurring in Paris, Lebanon and Nigeria over the past couple days, it feels as if humanity’s ever-present dark side is rearing its ugly head in unspeakably cruel ways.
If you have been affected by these events, my deepest sympathies go out to you and yours. At times like these, we are often left feeling powerless. The worst thing on a long list of terrible things that war and conflict does is leave children with awful emotional and psychological damage that can take many years to heal.
If you have been paying any attention to current affairs in the world, you’ll no doubt be aware of the plight of millions of displaced people, fleeing conflict and persecution in places like Syria and Iraq. Often, these people are running for their lives with their children and the very few belongings they can carry across thousands of miles to seek some form of shelter and safety from the violence and chaos. These children face so many challenges before they can begin to experience anything like a ‘normal’ childhood, that’s part of the reason why Rich’s wife and my good friend O Ustinova, has put together a fantastic initiative, designed to give these children a ray of sunshine in these dark times.
The esCape Project is a wonderful idea that will help give these children some comfort and nutrition at a time when they will need it the most. O has been hard at work designing a very nifty looking cape that’s as stylish as it is practical!
As well as providing some life saving warmth, the cape also contains a pocket which contains lots of goodies that children love, giving them an all important reminder of the joy that being a child can bring.
O is using Crowd Funder to gather some support for the project, and i’m sure you will all agree with me that it is a very worthy cause. Ultimately, things like this only need a few people to come together and make a contribution to make a real difference to someone’s life. It doesn’t take much to provide some support to easing the pain of a child’s experience, so if you are in a position to help out, please do amigos. I think that this is an amazing idea and the thought that just one child with have a slightly better experience because of this project gives me lots of warm, fuzzy feels!
