His original appearance was in Uncanny X men #266 introduced as a thief who runs into a deaged Storm they are both trying to pull off a heist in Egypt. They eventually have to help each other as they run into the mutant villain Shadow Master. It’s after this escapade that he is invited into the X men team and vouched for by Storm to the behest of some the members of the team particularly Wolverine who doesn’t trust him (if you ask me that’s the pot calling the kettle black).
Gambits qualities which make him eligible for the man crush Monday title are as follows, red eyes and a devilish smile that could sell fire to the devil himself. A natural charmer with his Louisiana French drawl accent. Inncendently one of his mutant powers is the ability to talk you into doing something (without you noticing) a form of mutant persuasion. Personality wise he’s a good guy with a shady past (what good girl doesn’t want a bad boy to fix). Pretty much able to have his fair pick of ladies the one that he eventually chooses is his fellow team member Rouge. Both passionate people but the relationship is not allowed to have any form of physical contact because of rogues absorbing power lest she absorb his life essence and kill him. Even with this problem he still pledges his love for her no matter what. Now that shows dedication in a man.
